WQC Updates
On March 24th, high school students flooded through the doors of ACEB eager to learn about the wide variety of Western Engineering clubs.
Initially, our team was worried that students would be intimidated by the word “quantum” or older more established clubs would draw most of the attention away from us. We found this to be quite the opposite as students frequently visited our booth, engaged in our activities, and asked thought-provoking questions that would sometimes even stump our team.
The number of students who already seemed fascinated by the vast applications of quantum computers was inspiring and makes us hopeful for the future of our club. The question from parents, “When will this be impacting the industry I work in?”occurred various few times and really gave us insight into our club’s responsibility to consider the ethical implications of our research and the impact quantum will have on the world.
Many members of WQC put a great deal of work into preparing for this open house, which was reflected in the student's engagement when at our booth. We are all excited to see our new members next year and wish all high school students a fun and well deserved graduation!
